Mary McKillop song notes
Purpose: Written as a school song for the many schools in Australia being named after the First Australian saint, it also lends itself to taking the name out and replacing with a school name of choice. (ie Mary Mc Killop is 4 beats beats so try your our school name and see if it will fit – some that do as an example – St Marys school; St peters school; Holy Family school etc.)
It was, however, written for Mary McKillop and the outstanding example she gave. As a testament to Mary McKillop – it stands alone as a tribute to her life and great works, especially in education.
Structure: I seem to be writing shorter songs with more impact and repeating themes. This is no exception and the quick moving tune should be picked up quickly by the children, congregation or choir.
