So we come unto the end, and we part to walk on home
We turn to travel down the road, but we don’t go alone
And we follow every by way, and we travel every track
Until to the Father we’ll be coming back
Until to the Father we’ll be coming back
Vs 1
For our journey never ends, and our Lord is always close
The Spirit in our lives He sends, He shows us every signpost
And He calls us to the truth, and He guides us on our way
He sheds His light upon our path, and in our hearts He’ll stay – CH
Vs 2
So His blessing goes with us, as we live throughout our days
His loving brushes off the dust, every time we think and pray
And He calls us to the truth, and He guides us on our way
He sheds His light upon our path, and in our hearts He’ll stay – CH

So We Travel Down The Road notes
A friend once rang me for a favor. Not an uncommon request mind you, just looking for some music to go with a special Eucharist. When I asked him the theme of this particular Eucharist (as every celebration of the Eucharist is special) his reply was,…
“I don’t know really, but I want something that moves along,…you know,…something with a bit of bounce, …you know?”
For some reason I had the picture of ‘the Tramp’ or ‘Swaggie’ fixed in my mind, bouncing along the road, walking into the sunset to whatever the destination. I saw a shadow walking with the Swaggie, singing and walking too, but not always in step. No matter which track, or path, or signpost followed seemed to change the scene, the Swaggie seemed to be walking with an aura that lit the way – the shadow was not the Swaggie’s!
Make of it what you will,… I wrote this song!
